My Hero Academia: All Villains Ranked From Weakest To Strongest (4)

My Hero Academia has taken off as one of the most popular pieces of superhero media of all time, with both the manga and anime standing as brilliant examples of the genre. One thing that makes My Hero Academia stand out amongst the rest of superhero media is the awesome villains. They also have some of the coolest powers and abilities.

From the minions to the big bads, there are some powerful villains in the world of My Hero Academia. That said, prominent villains whose Quirks haven't yet been described cannot be ranked accurately. All things considered, there are several factors that make it easier to rank the strongest villains in My Hero Academia.

Updated on August 8th, 2024 by Louis Kemner: This list of the strongest My Hero Academia villains has now been updated with more information about these shonen antagonists and includes five more characters to make it better-rounded. That even includes two MHA villains from the canon movies.

20 Magne Has Martial Arts Skills and Can Attract People With Magnetism

Why This MHA Villain is Actually a Great Love Interest for Deku

My Hero Academia has been pretty low on the romance end, but there is a villain who could have been a great love interest for our favorite nerd.

1

Audiences were first introduced to Magne in the training camp arc, where she displayed the power of her Magnetism Quirk. This meta ability allows her to magnetize people — women are polarized north, whereas men are polarized south. This is mostly a support-type Quirk that rewards creative thinking, contrasting with Magne's brutish fistfighting skills and habit of homicide.

More About Magne:

  • Quirk: Magnetism
  • Debut Episode: "Kota"
  • Birthday: N/A

This can be a powerful Quirk in crowds or against multiple opponents, as she can repel two people, causing them to go flying in opposite directions, or even stick a group of people together. Unfortunately, Magne's not a very strong fighter, explaining why Overhaul killed her so easily. Thus, Magne ranks last among the strongest My Hero Academia villains.

19 Mr. Compress Takes Pride in His Showman Skills

My Hero Academia: All Villains Ranked From Weakest To Strongest (7)

Mr. Compress, who shares his name with his extremely unique meta ability. He can turn his greatest enemy into a marble — even the biggest monster transforms into a tiny compressed orb that could be easily destroyed. It also helps that Mr. Compress is a skilled magician who can easily trick his enemies about where those orbs are, so it's not easy for his enemies to swipe them.

More About Mr. Compress:

  • Quirk: Compress
  • Debut Episode: "Roaring Upheaval"
  • Birthday: N/A

With this Quirk, Mr. Compress is not only able to capture and trap pretty much any opponent, but he can also select a specific body part to compress, potentially maiming his targets. All in all, it's a powerful form of incapacitation, but it has some limits and isn't the strongest in a direct battle.

18 Moonfish Fights With Dental Power

The villain Moonfish is arguably the creepiest character in My Hero Academia. Moonfish has the power to turn his teeth into sharp blades that can grow to any size and shape, allowing him to attack, defend, and even travel using nothing but his mouth. That's a fairly powerful Quirk, and it also ranks among the series' most disturbing and nightmarish Quirks, too.

More About Moonfish:

  • Quirk: Blade-Tooth
  • Debut Episode: "Kota"
  • Birthday: N/A

Although his techniques are rather unsettling, they're quite powerful given how easily he could fight off multiple people without even using his arms. Further, Moonfish's blades also seem capable of regenerating, which makes him very dangerous in a fight. Still, Moonfish and his blade-teeth can be overwhelmed with sufficient firepower.

17 Lady Nagant Became All For One's Best Ranged Fighter

The Origins of Villains in MHA, Explained

In My Hero Academia's world, Pro-Heroes are mainstream heroes with the support of nations, and as such villains, but what defines the difference?

Curiously, the woman known as Lady Nagant has gone from a hero to a villain and back to a hero again. In her youth, she was inspired to become a pro hero like her role models, only to become jaded about that lifestyle after a point. Lady Nagant lost faith and went rogue, ending up in Tartarus before the Paranormal Liberation Front broke her out, among many other prisoners.

More About Lady Nagant:

  • Quirk: Rifle, Air Walk
  • Debut Episode: "Tartarus"
  • Birthday: October 10th

From there, Lady Nagant fought for All For One with her sniper rifle-themed Quirk, which could manifest in her right arm. She was a crack shot with that ranged Quirk and posed a serious threat to Dark Deku for a time, only for All For One to blow her up and nearly kill her from the inside. After that, Lady Nagant switched back to the heroes and supported them however she could with her marksmanship.

16 Muscular is the Epitome of Brawn Over Brains

My Hero Academia: All Villains Ranked From Weakest To Strongest (9)

Nothing in My Hero Academia beats raw power, a feature that Muscular has in spades. Known simply as Pump Up, Muscular's Quirk allows him to increase his strength by adding and augmenting muscle fibers, resulting in countless layers of muscle manifesting outside his body. His Quirk is obviously meant to enhance his offensive power, but it also doubles as organic armor, making him that much more effective in battle.

More About Muscular:

  • Quirk: Pump Up
  • Debut Episode: "Wild, Wild puss*cats"
  • Birthday: December 7th

Just by looking at his Quirk in action, it's easy to see just how strong Muscular is. This is why it took all of Deku's strength and then some to take down the villain. Muscular later returns as Jailbreaker, but Deku easily dispatches the villain without much effort.

15 Kurogiri is Essential For Transporting His Fellow Villains

My Hero Academia: All Villains Ranked From Weakest To Strongest (10)

Shigaraki's right-hand man, Kurogiri, remained a major My Hero Academia mystery for a time until fans learned the tragic truth. His Warp Gate Quirk allows him to produce and control a black fog that can be used to teleport anyone or anything he chooses, and he can either teleport an entire person or just teleport away certain body parts, the latter of which is ideal for deflecting attacks.

More About Kurogiri:

  • Quirk: Warp Gate
  • Debut Episode: "Bakugo's Start Line"
  • Birthday: N/A

This power has a number of different applications, from concealing his identity to fleeing a fight – even defending against attacks by teleporting his opponent away. With such a wide range and multiple applications of his Quirk, Kurogiri is clearly an overpowered villain. In fact, All For One's teleportation Quirk pales in comparison to Warp Gate, so despite having little offensive power, Kurogiri has a spot among the strongest MHA villains after all.

14 Hero Killer: Stain is a Blood-Loving Assassin

Hero Killer: Stain enters the story as a major villain, but begins his redemption arc much later in the story. Stain's Quirk, known as Bloodcurdle, allows him to paralyze his opponents after consuming their blood. The person's blood type determines how long they remain paralyzed, but if Stain makes his finishing move quickly, then it won't matter much anyway.

More About Stain:

  • Quirk: Bloodcurdle
  • Debut Episode: "Fight On, Ida"
  • Birthday: N/A

Combined with his exceptional combat prowess and enduring willpower, Stain is essentially a fighting powerhouse capable of defeating some of the strongest heroes. Although his Quirk has numerous drawbacks, this doesn't mean that Stain is less dangerous. On the contrary, he has evolved his martial skills to compensate for Bloodcurdle.

13 Himiko Toga Uses Disguises and Acrobatics to Outfox the Heroes

Related

10 Darkest My Hero Academia Villains

Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia is full of unforgettable villains, yet some of these antagonists are the embodiment of true evil!

Himiko Toga is a villain whose meta ability is perfect for infiltration and espionage. Himiko's Quirk is known as Transform, and it allows her to transform into any person as long as she consumes their blood. The more of a person's blood Himiko has consumed, the longer she can remain in that disguise, so she included equipment on her villain costumes to get large samples.

More About Himiko Toga:

  • Quirk: Transform
  • Debut Episode: "The Aftermath of Hero Killer: Stain"
  • Birthday: August 7th

With this power, Himiko perfectly infiltrated the Hero License exam while posing as Camie Utsushimi. At this point in the story, Toga can also recreate the Quirks of those she's impersonating. She first undergoes a Quirk evolution with Ochaco Uraraka's Zero Gravity, using the latter to defeat her opponents. Toga has since become much stronger, and there's no telling how Ochaco and Tsuyu will defeat her.

12 Re-Destro Gets Stronger From Sheer Stress

My Hero Academia: All Villains Ranked From Weakest To Strongest (12)

In Season 5 of My Hero Academia, Tomura Shigaraki and his allies became antiheroes, which put them on a collision course with another set of MHA villains, known as the Meta Liberation Army. The suit-wearing Re-Destro was their leader, a descendant of the original Destro, a man who sought absolute freedom for all Quirk-bearing people.

More About Re-Destro:

  • Quirk: Stress
  • Debut Episode: "My Villain Academia"
  • Birthday: N/A

Re-Destro took command of the Army, a group that was over 100,000 strong, and appointed some lieutenants, including Trumpet and Curious, among others. As for his own combat prowess, Re-Destro has the Stress Quirk, which makes him bigger and stronger according to his stress levels. Conveniently for him, battle is a stressful thing, especially when he is losing to someone like Tomura Shigaraki.

11 Geten Wields Ice in Battle, Just Like Shoto Todoroki

My Hero Academia: All Villains Ranked From Weakest To Strongest (13)

At first, Shoto Todoroki was the main ice user in My Hero Academia, but then Season 5 introduced a Meta Liberation Army officer known as Geten. He wore a pale blue parka with the fur-lined hood up, a simple but effectifve villain costume to respresent his ice-generating Quirk. He was quite skilled with that Quirk in terms of offense, defense, and mobility alike.

More About Geten:

  • Quirk: Ice Ply
  • Debut Episode: "Revival Party"
  • Birthday: N/A

Geten's sole battle in the anime pitted him against his elemental foil, the fire-slinging Dabi/Toya Todoroki. Even Dabi, for all his power, had a tough time against Geten for a while, but Dabi eventually claimed victory. From that point on, Geten was a sworn ally of the former League of Villains, though anime fans didn't see much of that. It has also been confirmed that Geten is distantly related to the Todorokis through Rei.

10 Dabi Wields Devastating Blue Fire in Battle

Dabi was recently revealed to be Toya Todoroki, the long-lost brother of Shoto and the oldest son of Endeavor. His Blueflame Quirk is on par with his father, which is ironically what Endeavor wanted all along. Unfortunately, Dabi's descent into villainy ensures that he'd never use his abilities to help anyone other than himself and his friends.

More About Dabi:

  • Quirk: Blueflame
  • Debut Episode: "The Aftermath of Hero Killer: Stain"
  • Birthday: January 18th

Dabi may not be as strong as Shoto, but the older Todoroki's experience and endurance make all the difference in the world. He is even willing to destroy his own body in a desperate bid to get back at his hero father, and the first step is to crush his youngest brother Shoto in mortal combat as the final battle for Japan's future rages on. That's how Dabi earned himself a place in the middle among the anime's most powerful antagonists of all.

9 The Nomu Are Lab-Grown Monsters With Multiple Quirks

Related

My Hero Academia: 10 Strongest Villains Deku Never Got to Fight

While Deku took on dangerous foes like Overhaul in My Hero Academia, he never fought against villains like Dabi or Serpenters.

The Nomu are outliers, as they're a group of artificially created humans that have been imbued with multiple superpowers as a whole, rather than being individual villains. Regardless, the Nomu are incredibly powerful in every iteration. Some of them are even designed with certain strategies and fighting styles in mind, and that means they can be tailor-made to counter certain pro heroes and their Quirks, as All Might saw for himself.

More About Nomu:

  • Quirk: Varies
  • Debut Episode: "Bakugo's Start Line"
  • Birthday: N/A

Though these artificial humans are practically brain dead, they are very strong — some of them are even capable of flawless regeneration. As demonstrated by the USJ Nomu, even the likes of All Might are going to find it very difficult to defeat these creatures.

8 High-End Nomu Like Hood Are True Powerhouses

There is one Nomu that stands above the rest, an artificial human known as High-End. This Nomu fought with Endeavor in one of the story's toughest battles ever, although the hero eventually ended up winning. It's terrifying to think that a lab-grown monster is a match for the top pro heroes, because it's apparently easier to make these things than for a hero to become #1 through training alone.

More About High-End:

  • Quirk: Muscle Augmentation, Super Regeneration, Shoulder-Mounted Jets, Transforming Arms, Power
  • Debut Episode: "Japanese Hero Billboard Chart"
  • Birthday: N/A

High-End is a highly intelligent Nomu with six different Quirks implanted in his body: a muscle augmentation Quirk, a regeneration Quirk, shoulder-mounted jets, arms that can shape-shift, a power-enhancing Quirk, and the ability to store other lower-level Nomus within.

7 Flect Turn Won't Let Any Quick Touch Him

My Hero Academia: All Villains Ranked From Weakest To Strongest (16)

The My Hero Academia movies introduced a remarkable variety of villains, including the endgame bosses. The third movie ushered in a tall, blue-skinned man calling himself Flect Turn, a name that perfectly embodied his Quirk. He could use it to reflect and turn an enemy's attack back at them, which requires little effort on his part.

More About Flect Turnb:

  • Quirk: Reflect
  • Debut Movie: My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission
  • Birthday: June 22nd

On his own, Flect Turn can't do much to harm his enemies, but if the opponent launches the first attack, then Flect Turn has all he needs. Fans saw that for themselves when Izuku Midoriya desperately tried to knock him out with One For All's Smash attacks, only for Flect to repeatedly turn those mighty attacks right back at Deku time and again. There may be an upper limit to Flect Turn's Quirk, but it's so high, most heroes would give up or get knocked out befor reaching it.

6 Overhaul Can Reshape Matter According to His Will

My Hero Academia: All Villains Ranked From Weakest To Strongest (17)

Overhaul made his first anime appearance in the finale of the third season. He's easily one of the strongest villains in My Hero Academia. This villain's power is almost god-like, giving him control over matter on a massive scale. That makes his Quirk one of the most flexible in the entire series, proving itself useful on any battlefield and against any opponent.

More About Overhaul:

  • Quirk: Overhaul
  • Debut Episode: "A Season For Encounters"
  • Birthday: March 20th

Overhaul's Quirk, also known as Overhaul, allows him to disassemble and reassemble anything he touches, which lets him heal wounds, disassemble people, alter his environment, and more. Though the fact that he has to touch whatever he's manipulating is a bit of a hindrance, Overhaul proves exactly why he's such a feared villain. He only stopped being a threat after Tomura Shigaraki rotted off his arms up to the elbows, thus destroying his Quirk factor.

5 Twice Created a Parade of Himself

My Hero Academia: The 10 Tallest Villains, Ranked by Height

My Hero Academia has some truly imposing villains, and thanks to the series' author Kohei Horikoshi, fans now know exactly how tall they all are.

Twice is a bit of a mixed bag in terms of applying his Quirk, known as Double. With this Quirk, the villain is able to make exact duplicates of people upon knowing their exact measurements. Most often, he uses this Quirk on himself, though he also made a double of Dabi during the mission in the forest training camp. Then, after awakening his Quirk, Twice was able to make an entire army of himself, a move called Sad Man's Parade.

More About Twice:

  • Quirk: Double
  • Debut Episode: "Drive It Home, Iron Fist!!!"
  • Birthday: May 10th

The only drawback to all this is that the clones have their own autonomy and cannot be controlled. They are useful in a fight and possibly infiltration, but they have the same personality as the original, where things get tricky. That said, Twice unlocks a magnificent new feature before his death, making him far stronger than most villains in My Hero Academia, so he ranks highly among the My Hero Academia villains.

4 Gigantomachia is a Towering Juggernaut of Destruction

My Hero Academia: All Villains Ranked From Weakest To Strongest (20)

Gigantomachia's origins are shrouded in mystery. This individual doesn't look like a human at all, but he was probably an ordinary man before receiving the Gigantification Quirk. Gigantomachia has six other Quirks lodged in his body, making him an extremely dangerous obstacle in the heroes' path. For the most part, Gigantomachia's role is a defensive one despite his enormous size and power, being All For One's and Tomura's bodyguard.

More About Gigantomachia:

  • Quirk: Endurance, Pain Blocker, Gigantification, Dog, Energy Saver, Fierce Gains, Mole
  • Debut Episode: "The Aftermath of Hero Killer: Stain"
  • Birthday: N/A

His devotion to All For One and Tomura Shigaraki notwithstanding, Gigantomachia can easily be controlled by someone mimicking his masters' voices. Despite this disadvantage, the hero community is particularly wary of this villain, as his sudden appearance could easily make or break a battle.

3 Nine Briefly Became the New All For One

My Hero Academia: All Villains Ranked From Weakest To Strongest (21)

The second My Hero Academia movie centered around a man in ill health, known simply as Nine. He had a Quirk to control the weather, but then he gained All For One as well, allowing him to wield several more Quirks for a total of nine, hence his nickname. His ultimate goal was to obtain a flesh-regenerating Quirk to heal himself and overcome his condition.

More About Nine:

  • Quirk: All For One
  • Debut Movie: My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising
  • Birthday: June 1st

Nine was an overwhelming threat for class 1-A's students on that island, alongside a few allies like Chimera on his side. Nine even challenged the bulk of class 1-A all on his own as the morning sun rose, using his varied and powerful Quirks to take on all his teenage opponents. Deku had to resort to sharing One For All with Katsuki Bakugo to finally trounce Nine and overcome the power of All For One.

2 Tomura Shigaraki Has Become the New Symbol of Evil

Tomura Shigaraki has one of the strongest meta abilities in the series. Known as Decay, Tomura's Quirk causes whatever he touches to decay and turn to dust. He barely has any control over this ability at first, but obtaining the All For One Quirk changes everything for this villain. He also awakened that Quirk so it can affect an even larger area, to the point Tomura can wipe out an entire town without having to go around touching everything himself.

More About Tomura Shigaraki:

  • Quirk: Decay, All For One
  • Debut Episode: "Bakugo's Start Line"
  • Birthday: April 4th

Tomura's new Quirk library is as vast and diverse as his mentor's, but he doesn't have a strong grasp over All For One just yet. However, Tomura's Decay is now strong enough to destroy entire cities. Deku is going to have a hard time against this overpowered villain, especially with Tomura creating massive fleshy growths of hands and fingers to serve on both offense and defense, no Quirks needed.

1 All For One is a One-Man Army

All for One is still the absolute strongest villain in the world of My Hero Academia. His Quirk allows him to steal Quirks from others and give them to anyone he wishes. If that's not enough, he is one of the most shameless individuals in the story. He also had the benefit of time, spending not just years, but over a century collecting and redistributing an unimaginable number of Quirks.

More About All For One:

  • Quirk: All For One
  • Debut Episode: "Listen Up!! A Tale From the Past"
  • Birthday: N/A

With this power, All for One has stockpiled a large number of Quirks, including a number of strength, durability, and healing-enhancing powers that he can combine into super attacks. Though he might be blind, All For One more than makes up for this drawback with his massive power, and he can even face off against top-rated heroes like Hawks and Endeavor all on his own, as recent episodes in Season 7 showed.
